Assignment Title: Agora Hills School District Menus

What I learned: Through this assignment I learned how to create a colorful and eye catching menu for both breakfast and lunch meals. The created menu needed to fit school foodservice regulations as well as align the dietary needs.

Reflection of the assignment: This assignment helped me to better understand how school foodservice and management works. I had to first come up with a list of meals and then fit them into the district’s policy as far as meal planning and nutrient requirements. This project helped me come up with kid friendly meals that adults would approve of, and about the importance of successful promotion skills.

Relevance to the profession: I believe that being able to create a menu is very important to any person working in the field of foodservice or nutrition. Often times menu plans are needed for specific health status or just being able to meet the nutrient requirements for specific age groups. In order to have a kitchen facility run smoothly, it needs to have a plan as far as recipes, meals and the serving of quality foods in order to keep customers, patients, and or clients happy. Having the ability and skill to create a menu will be helpful to any career in nutrition or foodservice.
